The Change Maker : Audrey Petrelluzzi

Audrey Petrelluzzi
There are those who quietly, yet powerfully, shape the future—and Audrey Petrelluzzi of The Punch Community is one of those. After arriving in Bali from France over a decade ago, Audrey felt an undeniable pull toward the island’s creative energy and deep sense of community. What began as a personal journey soon evolved into The Punch; a beautifully curated platform that acts as both a trusted guide and growing community—connecting global travellers with conscious brands, meaningful experiences, and the people behind them.

Her journey is a testament to the belief that real impact often begins with small, intentional steps—and that by uplifting others, we can collectively inspire a more conscious and beautiful world.

Q: Bali has a way of drawing people in—not just for its beauty, but for its energy, its people, and the deep sense of creativity that thrives here. Coming from France, what initially brought you to the island, and how did that experience inspire the creation of The Punch?
A: I first came to Bali over 13 years ago on holiday, visiting a cousin who had been living here for years. At the time, I was still studying in France, and I felt incredibly drawn to the energy of the island. There was something so precious about it, something I couldn’t quite explain. As soon as I finished my studies, I knew I had to come back. The initial idea was to create a sustainable label, but over time, that vision evolved. I kept meeting inspiring people, discovering businesses driving positive change, and I realized that some of the incredible efforts in place needed to be shared—so that we could connect conscious travellers and visitors with them.

Q: Many say that Bali changes those who embrace its way of life. How has this island transformed you, both as a woman and in your journey as an entrepreneur?
A: Bali has transformed the way I move through the world—both personally and professionally. It’s taught me to live with more presence, to embrace simplicity, and to truly trust the journey. As a woman, the island has given me space to reconnect with my values, to soften where I used to guard myself, and to find strength in vulnerability. As an entrepreneur, it’s pushed me to think beyond traditional business—reminding me that business can (and must) be rooted in intention, community, and purpose. There’s something about Bali that gently (and sometimes not so gently) brings you back to your truth. It reminds you of what really matters. And through it all, I’m still learning and evolving every day.
Q: The Punch is a true ecosystem of ideas and action, uniting like-minded individuals and businesses with a shared vision for sustainability and conscious living. What has been the most fulfilling part of building this community, and what challenges have you faced along the way?
A: The most fulfilling part of building The Punch has been the people—without a doubt. I’m constantly inspired by the stories we get to tell and the passion behind every project we feature. There’s something incredibly powerful about creating meaningful connections between individuals and businesses all working toward a more conscious future. The challenges? Many! Navigating sustainability—especially in a place that’s still developing on so many levels—requires care, patience, and a lot of listening. Choosing to focus on this niche and curating it thoughtfully means being selective, and with that comes slower growth and lower revenues than platforms that choose to take it all. But staying true to the mission and building something with integrity and credibility has always mattered more. What keeps me going is the impact we see—those moments when we know we’ve helped amplify a voice, encourage a collaboration, or inspire someone to choose better.
Q: Just like The Punch, we believe that storytelling has the power to educate, inspire, and drive change—that’s why we love sharing the personal and professional journeys of inspiring women like you.
What role do you think storytelling plays in shifting mindsets toward sustainability, and how do you ensure that the stories you share through The Punch resonate both locally and globally?
A: Thank you—that truly means a lot. I’ve always believed storytelling is one of our most powerful tools. It turns complex issues into relatable, human experiences that inspire action. With The Punch, we aim to celebrate and empower the people behind the change, sharing their challenges, intentions, and courage. I'm grateful to be part of a community of women using their platforms to shape a more conscious world.
Storytelling is at the core of changing how we think about sustainability, making it feel real and personal. It’s about sharing the journeys of those who live their values and actively make a difference. We focus on stories that connect on a deeper level—whether it’s about protecting the environment, uplifting communities, or innovating for the future. By telling these stories, we show how small, local actions can inspire big, global change, inviting everyone to be part of the transformation.

Q: In a world oversaturated with information, it can be challenging to discern genuine impact from greenwashing and determine what to trust and apply. How do you navigate this challenge, and how does The Punch help consumers and businesses make more informed, conscious choices?
A: It’s definitely tough to navigate the sea of information out there, and greenwashing is a real challenge. At The Punch, we focus (and take the time) on building genuine relationships with the businesses we feature, taking the time to understand the real work they’re doing. We share authentic, transparent stories that highlight their true impact. For consumers, we provide a curated space where they can discover businesses that are genuinely committed to being responsible. For businesses, we offer a platform to showcase their efforts and connect with others in the movement. Through these stories, we help both sides make more informed, conscious choices and build trust in the process.
Q: Sustainability is often viewed through an environmental lens, but it also extends to human and emotional sustainability. At Lilya, we are committed to continuous improvement, building long-term relationships with the same artisans and factories in Bali—relationships founded on trust, craftsmanship, and shared values. More and more brands are following this path, becoming more intentional in their fabric sourcing, rediscovering natural materials and dyes, reviving artisanal techniques, and embracing a slower, more thoughtful approach to fashion.
What is your vision for the future of the fashion industry, and how do you personally approach fashion in a more conscious and meaningful way?
A: For me, the future of fashion lies in slowing down and reconnecting with what truly matters—the artisans, the craftsmanship, and the stories behind the pieces. I believe fashion should be about making thoughtful choices that reflect our values. It’s not just about what we wear, but how it’s made and who makes it.
Personally, I love finding pieces that are minimalist and in gentle, calming colors—things that reflect my style and make me feel good when I wear them. I gravitate toward items that I know I’ll wear again and again, and that carry a sense of purpose. It’s not about following trends, but about choosing things that align with how I want to feel and what I want to support. For me, fashion should be a quiet expression of values, comfort, and lasting beauty.

Q: If you could envision an ideal future, what would the world look like in 10 years—for you as a woman, an entrepreneur, and for The Punch’s impact within it?
A: Wow, I have a big vision! In 10 years, I hope sustainability is so naturally embedded in life that it’s just part of the way we live and work. But beyond that, I’d love to focus more on inspiring stories—not just about sustainability, but about people lifting each other up. Personally, I see The Punch growing into a global platform, connecting people around the world through our mission to highlight those making a real impact.
The ultimate goal is to show that imperfection is part of the journey. Change is messy, but it’s all about learning and moving forward together. I want to help build a future where we’re not just talking about change but actively supporting each other to make it happen.
Q: The Punch doesn’t just spotlight sustainable brands—it actively supports and empowers them to grow and thrive. Every year, you organize The Punch Sustainability Awards, honoring Bali’s most inspiring individuals and businesses reshaping the collective future and we were lucky enough to come and experience this wonderful evening in Ubud.
What advice would you give to entrepreneurs looking to build a purpose-driven business without compromising their values? What do you think are the most critical first steps for brands looking to make a real impact?
A: I’m so glad you could experience the gala—it’s always an inspiring evening, and last year’s launch of The Punch Sustainability Awards was a special moment for us. My advice to entrepreneurs building purpose-driven businesses is simple: stay true to your values, even when it’s hard. It’s easy to get caught up in the pressures of growth or success, but the heart of a purpose-driven business is staying aligned with what you believe in, no matter what.
Start small, stay authentic, and remember that success isn’t just about profit—it’s about the impact you’re creating. Surround yourself with like-minded people who support your mission and push you to keep going when things get tough. And don’t be afraid to be imperfect; the journey of building a business with purpose is full of learning and adapting. Keep your focus on the bigger picture, and let your values guide you every step of the way.
A lot of what we see on social media around slow living can be surface-level, but the real impact comes when brands take the time to truly understand what it means to live and operate sustainably, beyond just the aesthetic. For me, it’s about authenticity—being clear about what you can commit to and making sure those actions align with your values. For businesses just starting, it’s essential to take it step by step—set realistic goals, find the right partners, and stay transparent with your audience. Making a real impact comes from consistency and a genuine willingness to improve. Brands need to start by evaluating their processes—from sourcing materials to manufacturing and even their marketing practices. It’s about understanding the full impact and then making intentional, small changes that will add up over time.
Q: True success is often measured not just by what we achieve but by the communities we uplift. Looking back, what impact are you most proud of?
A: Looking back, what I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built through The Punch—a network of people who genuinely care about making a difference. It’s incredible to see how businesses and individuals have grown, not just in their sustainability efforts, but in their ability to inspire and lead. For me, success isn’t about what we’ve accomplished, but how our work has encouraged real change and empowered others to take action. Watching these ripple effects and seeing the impact on the ground is what makes all of this feel truly meaningful.

Q: Success can be deeply personal, shaped by our values, experiences, and ambitions.
What does living a successful life mean to you, beyond business?
A: Living a successful life, to me, is about being true to my values, spending time with the people I love, balancing ambition with simplicity, and finding moments of peace in the chaos. I want to feel that I’m making a real impact, but also that I’m showing up for my family, especially as a mum. I am trying to be more intentional with my time. I ask myself if the hustle is really moving me closer to my goals, or if it’s just noise.
That said, I’m still figuring it out. I know that being more present and working a bit less would help me feel more grounded, but it’s a challenge to balance it all. I’m still learning to let go of perfection and accept that progress, not perfection, is what matters. Some days I get it right, and some days I don’t—but I’m okay with that. It’s a constant journey, and I’m working on finding more of those small, quiet moments that actually make life feel successful.

Q: You’ve built a platform that has successfully united and inspired a purpose-driven community. Looking ahead, what’s next for The Punch?
What new chapters are you most excited to explore in the years to come?
A: Looking ahead, I’m excited about where we’re heading, but I’ll be honest—it’s been a journey of figuring things out. My team and I have pivoted a few times, trying to find the right approach and the best way to make the impact we want. But that’s part of the process, and I’m grateful for the lessons we’ve learned along the way.
What excites me most is expanding The Punch beyond Bali—bringing our stories and mission to new places, connecting with more people who share the same values, and empowering businesses and individuals along the way. And who knows… maybe one day we’ll have chic little offices in Paris, New York, Sydney? I truly want to show that responsibility and sustainability can be classy, fun, and exciting too!
At the heart of it all, I want The Punch to remain a space for inspiration and real action. The next chapter is about deepening the impact, growing intentionally, and continuing to celebrate those who are doing the work with heart, creativity, and purpose.
Thank you, Audrey, for sharing your journey with us. Your vision inspires us and makes us try a little bit harder each day to make our world a better place.
