The Stillness Within at BI Design House

When we were choosing where to shoot The Stillness Within, we knew it needed to feel beautiful, honest and real, with natural light that shifted gently as the day moved on.

I had heard of the newly completed, BI Design House, a small boutique hotel owned and run by the lovely Sheila of Bali Interiors, so I went to visit and it felt right from the get go, it was artistic and intentional, yet deeply calm.

Built as a sanctuary for creativity and connection, it is a place designed not just to stay, but to feel.

Mornings begin slowly, light moves across textured walls and curtains shift in the breeze. There is space for yoga, and quiet corners where ceramic and painting workshops take shape. Long communal breakfasts turn into conversations between guests making it feel less like a hotel and more like a home that invites you in.

The light does something beautiful in that house. Morning light rests gently across the floors. By afternoon it filters through breezy curtains, softening everything it touches. Art, colour and texture sit easily against stone and timber. Living spaces open into one another without effort, making it perfect for shooting in. Oh and did I mention the divine bedrooms, each different in colour and mood and filled with art and personality.

For a collection rooted in stillness, movement and memory, it gave us everything. The clothes did not feel placed within the space, they belonged there. The house never competed with the collection, but rather supported it.

During our stay, we were cooked a beautiful lunch by their chef which was shared by our crew, around a table that had already held many creative conversations before ours. That generosity and warmth shaped the shoot more than we expected. Shoots can be long and demanding, but working in such a calm, welcoming space made the days feel slower, more connected and far more enjoyable than a studio setting.

Shooting at BI Design House allowed that story to unfold without noise. Some places are simply beautiful. Others allow you to create something meaningful inside them. This was one of those places.
