Under The California Sun

There are some people who seem to have a natural way of making everything their own. It was this sense of individuality that first drew us to Olivia. The way she dresses and carries herself, bringing her own taste to everything she wears, feels completely natural.

A vintage find, a pair of jeans, a favourite blouse or a simple dress - whatever she puts on seems to become part of her world. Her style feels carefree and individual, shaped by the things she loves: vintage, the ocean, old records, life outdoors and a little bit of California ease.

Born and raised in a beach town on the East Coast, Olivia moved to Southern California around seven years ago. Today, she lives in Oceanside with her husband Titus and their ten-month-old daughter, Velzy Sun, in a tiny stone cottage on a charming five-acre property.

It's a simple life, but one filled with the things they love. Early surf sessions, coffee, flea markets, baking sourdough, spending time outside and putting a record on while dinner is being made. Much of their life and work naturally overlaps too, with Titus working as a photographer and the two of them creating together.

There is a real sense of creativity running through their everyday life. From the vintage pieces Olivia has collected over the years to the photographs Titus takes, the home they've made and the way they spend their weekends, everything feels personal and true to them. Their home was also where Titus photographed Olivia wearing pieces from A Moment in the Sun, giving the collection a very personal setting amongst the California countryside.

Olivia and Titus met soon after she moved to California. They reconnected a few years later, went on their first date and, just a couple of months after that, eloped to New Zealand in 2022. They've been best friends ever since.

These days, their life and work naturally overlap. Titus is a photographer with a passion for film photography, surfing and living simply and intentionally, while Olivia brings her own creative eye, love of vintage and distinctive personal style.

Fortunately for them, they share many of the same interests, so creating and working together comes quite naturally. They also create content for brands together, often bringing Velzy along with them.

Olivia's love of vintage began long before California. She started thrifting with her mum as a little girl, which eventually grew into a passion and later a business of her own. A few years ago, she left her corporate career to sell vintage full-time.

Today, life looks a little different. Motherhood was always something she dreamed of, and since welcoming Velzy, her focus has naturally shifted towards her family. She still sells vintage from time to time while balancing other creative projects that allow her and Titus to work together and spend more time as a family.

Becoming a mother can also change the way you think about getting dressed. It's not necessarily that your personal style changes completely, but that so much else does. Your priorities shift, your days look different and you begin to think a little more about what feels right for you now. For Olivia, that has meant choosing LILYA pieces that feel comfortable and easy while still feeling like herself.

“The pieces I chose felt effortless and true to my style. As a new mum, getting dressed has looked a little different — I’m drawn to pieces that are comfortable but also feel stylish and like my new self as a mother. The styles I chose felt really natural and fit seamlessly into my existing wardrobe.”

Olivia doesn't seem to follow one particular look. She could wear something feminine, something vintage, something a little western or something completely simple, and somehow it all comes together.

She has a really natural creative eye and a strong sense of her own taste. You see it in the details- the way she wears her hair, the jewellery she adds, the shoes and sunglasses she chooses and the way she poses. She looks completely natural in what she wears, bringing a real sense of ease to every look. There really is a confidence in the way Olivia dresses that makes everything feel instinctive.

Each LILYA piece felt at home in her wardrobe, while also giving us a glimpse into her own way of dressing.

Olivia wears pieces from our July, August and September drops, with more styles from the collection still to come in October.

For us, this collection is about clothes that are easy to wear daily and pieces that you'll enjoy wearing, feel comfortable in and wear again in seasons to come. Olivia was a natural fit for the collection and we loved seeing the way she wore each style with such ease, from the more feminine pieces to the everyday staples, and just how naturally they fitted into her California life.

A Moment in the Sun takes on a new feeling within Olivia's California world. Shot by Titus around their home in Oceanside, the photographs capture the collection in a way that feels personal, relaxed and completely natural.

A little sun, a little sea, a tiny cottage in California and clothes that feel at home in both.
